I’m getting ready to embark once again on a long fall term of classes. I’m writing this post with the hope in my heart that I will still be able to write and blog once school life and work life really start taking their toll. This is a sort of catch-up post to what’s been going on lately.
Since one of the persons whose name I drew last month as a winner of the anthology Undead is Not an Option did not contact me with an address to send the book to, I drew another name. I drew it on 8/13, shortly before Jim Bronyaur and I were scheduled to do #Horrorchat13 on Twitter. I drew Cindy Scheurr as the winner and will be sending copies of the book to her and the other winner very shortly.
Local Anthology News
FWA’s “Let’s Talk” anthology is still looking at the sixty stories being published to award the top ten spots in the collection. Cross your fingers that my tale, The King and His Twenty-Three Subjects, wins one of the top spots. All stories had to be written completely in dialogue. That wasn’t enough of a challenge for me, so I decided to write mine all in British dialect and base it on the old children’s nursery rhyme Sing a Song of Sixpence.
Possible Future Drabble-eZine
I’ve started a new blog with the sole intent of publishing Drabbles. I’m not sure when I’m going to start doing this. I want to check out a few options for the site first. I’m starting with Drabbles because as a part-time student taking 9 credit hours this term and working, 100-word stories might be all I have time to read. There is the possibility of a flash contest in the future. Be on the lookout for a Call for Submissions. 😀
ABC’s is Up for a Reader’sChoice Award
My flash The ABC’s of the Apocalypse is up for the Reader’s Choice award at FridayFlash.org. Click on the link there to go to the site. The links to the stories and voting panel are on the right sidebar of the website. I’m thanking you in advance for your vote. M’kay? I don’t normally solicit for votes and recognition, which is probably why I never win anything. All that’s changing as of right now, but that’s a whole ‘nother blog post. 😉
School starts tomorrow and I’m going to be swamped between working my student job, homework, and possible tutoring. I’ll try to blog more than a once-a-week writing prompt, but it may be more like an every other week “Hi, I’m still alive” kind of post.
I’m trying desperately to deserve my new blogging award. 🙂
